Saw Mill & Raw Slabs
Most furniture businesses buy their wood from a supplier. We cut our own — and we sell direct to furniture makers, woodworkers, and serious DIY enthusiasts across Gauteng.

Where Every Table Starts
The De Jager saw mill in Benoni is where everything starts. Raw logs come in, furniture-grade slabs go out — thick, wide, and already vetted by the same hands that will build your table. This is what separates a De Jager piece from anything you'll find in a showroom or catalogue.
Our saw mill on the East Rand carries a rotating selection of South African hardwood slabs including Saligna, Kiaat (African Teak), Red Iron Bark, Rosewood and White Oak — available in a wide range of lengths, widths and thicknesses to suit dining tables, coffee tables, bar counters and full countertop runs. We also take in customer-supplied logs and mill them to your specified dimensions.
Not sure what you need? Come visit the mill in Northmead, Benoni — walk the floor, feel the timber, and we'll talk through your project together. No obligation, no pressure.

This is the real thing — raw timber on the floor, fresh-cut slabs on the rack, and a saw that's been running since 2017. Everything that comes out of our Benoni saw mill is graded for furniture use before it leaves.
Species We Mill & Stock
Stock rotates as logs come in — WhatsApp us to confirm what's on the floor right now. Every slab is graded for furniture use before it's offered for sale.
Saligna
Dense and warm-toned with a tight, consistent grain. Our most popular species for river tables across Gauteng — it holds epoxy beautifully and produces wide, stable slabs that are ideal for dining table builds.
Full Species Guide →Kiaat (African Teak)
Rich reddish-brown with a deep, pronounced grain pattern. Kiaat is one of the most sought-after South African hardwoods for furniture — incredibly durable, naturally oil-rich, and stunning with any dark epoxy colour.
Full Species Guide →Red Iron Bark, Rosewood & White Oak
Premium hardwoods for discerning builds. Red Iron Bark is exceptionally dense and earthy, Rosewood brings deep chocolate tones, and White Oak offers a versatile blonde grain that pairs with any epoxy colour.
